Up Close & Personal with the Reebok CrossFit Nano 5.0
Posted by Liz J. on Jul 12th 2017
Introducing the new Nano 5.0 from Reebok CrossFit! The toughest Nano yet comes with plenty of innovative new technologies, including the new Kevlar® Upper. Let's take a closer look.
Uppers
For the CrossFit Nano 5.0, Reebok has ditched the polyurethane DuraCage found on other Nanos in favor of DuPont™ Kevlar® infused mesh. This material is best known for its use in ballistic-resistant body armor and offers both exceptional durability and lightweight breathability. The Kevlar® uppers are made to withstand the rigorous activity that serious fitness athletes encounter every day. In addition to function, the switch from the DuraCage to Kevlar® also allows the shoe to take on a new aesthetic. Scroll through the pictures below to see more of the intricate details below.
Lace & Tongue:
The Nano 5.0 offers a secure fit without compromising your comfort. Important features include a padded tongue and NanoShell midsole. The padded, breathable tongue has two straps that extend down to the sole of the shoe, locking your foot in place for optimum stability during lifts. The TPU NanoShell midsole offers additional support during medial and lateral movements, as well as during heavy lifts.
Soles:
The sole on the Nano 5 features Reebok's Metasplit technology, raised lug soles and RopePro + Wrap. Metasplit grooves allow for flexibility in multiple directions as well as metatarsal splaying (read: spreading out your toes) for ultimate performance. The extra flexibility in the forefoot can be a major benefit for movements that involve jumping like burpees, DU's, and box-jumps. The raised lug soles are designed for better grip, and the RopePro + Wrap technology has been re-engineered with even stronger composite materials to protect you during rope climbs.
Heel Cup
One of our favorite features on the new Nano 5.0 is the heel cup.... However, between the security of the Heel Cup and the Nano Shell, getting your foot in and out of the shoe may take some extra effort.
We recommend using a Shoe Horn when putting on your Nano 5.0's on to make the process easier and to help maintain the original condition of your heel counters.
Overall Impressions
Overall, we think the Nano 5 is a great shoe for the sport of Fitness. Reebok has gone above and beyond in listening to athletes and finding technologies that let them worry less about their shoes and more about the WOD.
