Transitional Shoes - Summer to Fall
Posted by Liz J. on Jul 13th 2017
If you live in New England like we do, you might find the transition between seasons and finding the appropriate attire frustrating. Below are our remedies for your Summer to Fall footwear woes.
Learn to love Chukka Boots.
Our favorite solution to between season weather, chukka boots are rugged enough to pass off as fall footwear, but have just the right amount of height and elegance to keep you looking cool during these last hot summer days. Last week, we mentioned our love for Alden's unlined suede chukkas for warm weather, but this week we'd like to point out some other options.
If you enjoy a little extra comfort, try the new Gold Norfolk Chukka with Anti-Shock and Vibration Technology from Sperry Top-Sider. Prefer a more minimalist take? Try the Vivobarefoot Gobi for a barefoot-inspired option that's still warm enough for the season ahead.
Bring out the Guns.
The Gunboats, we mean. Heavier leather wing-tip bluchers with their double soles and 360-degree welting are a great way to move into cooler weather without breaking a sweat. The longwings from your summer wardrobe works with your fall flannels as well. We think Alden does this look best with their Long Wing Blucher. The Long Wing All Weather Walker has the added benefit of a plantation crepe outsole and 360-degree storm welt.
Cool Down with Slip-ons
We love the effortless ease that comes along with a pair of summer slip-on shoes. It's getting cooler, but don't abandon your favorite pair of loafers or boat shoes yet. Bring them into cooler weather with a darker color palette. Try Navy, Gray, or Earthy Greens and Browns. Keep it classic with the G.H. Bass Men's Larson, or wear something a bit more casual with the comfortable Dansko Viktor in Navy Milled Nubuck.
