The Dansko Professional clog is well known for its comfort and use in the workplace. It comes in many different styles so that you can find the perfect pair to fit your everyday lifestyle. There are so many different leathers that it can be confusing if you're not familiar with them! We'll break it down for you here.
Dansko Materials
Box Leather
Box leather has a smooth, clean finish that can be easily cleaned. Great for hospitals and kitchens. Best For: Work environments with wet, acidic, or greasy conditions. Care: Use a damp soapy cloth or sponge to remove surface dirt. Do not saturate the leather. Ordinary scuff marks may be touched up with shoe polish.
Cabrio Leather
Cabrio leather features a black top coat that provides a high-gloss shine and dressy appeal. Best For: Arguably the most stylish leather, made for play but suitable for work. Care: To remove surface dirt, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. No other leather care products are needed.
Oiled Leather
Oiled leather has a heavily oiled finish that creates a durable, moisture-resistance surface. This rugged leather creates a matte, textured appearence and has a quick break in. Best For: Casual wear, okay for work. May stain more easily than Box or Cabrio leathers. Care: To clean, rub light scuffs with finger tips. Remove stubborn dirt with damp cloth. Dansko offers an Oiled Leather Restorer made specifically to maintain oiled leather clogs. Dansko Beeswax Conditioner can be used for weatherproofing.
Full-Grain Leather *
Full grain leather is a smooth and water-resistant leather that does not break down in environments with wet, acidic or greasy conditions. Best For: Everyday wear or work environments with wet, acidic, or greasy conditions. Care: To clean, wipe with a damp cloth. Patent Leather
Patent leather is a dress leather with a polycoat finish. This finish gives the leather its high shine. Best For: A dress clog, perfect for almost any occasion. Care: Gently wipe surface dirt off the leather with a clean damp cloth.
Nappa Leather
Nappa Leather is extremely soft, supple and luxurious, great for a dressy look. Best For: Special occasions. Care: To clean, wipe with a soft cloth. A damp cloth may be used for a more thorough cleaning. To maintain, buff with Dansko Leather Cream and a soft clean cloth. To maintain, buff lightly with the Dansko Anytime Shoe Shine sponge.
Suede Leather
Suede Leather features a soft, delicate nap. Best For: Dress-up occasions or every day wear. Care: Nubuck and Suede Bar and Brush to remove surface stains. For maximum water and stain protection, we recommend using Suede and Nubuck Spray immediately after purchase.
Nubuck Leather
The softest Dansko leather with a lush and silky feel. Best For: Leisure shoes and sandals, particularly with bright, vivid colors. Care: Wipe with a damp cloth to remove surface dirt. Use a Nubuck and Suede Bar and Brush to remove surface stains. For maximum water and stain protection, we recommend using a Suede and Nubuck Spray immediately after purchase.
Felt
Felt is a material constructed with non-woven, compressed, synthetic fibers. This material provides a warm, cozy look and feel. Best For: Casual Wear Care: Spot clean with a damp cloth.
Hair Calf
A soft, supple leather with calf hair. Best For: A unique, dressy look. Care: Spot clean with a clean damp cloth.

Antiqued
Antiqued leathers usually have more color depth for an aged or polished look. Care: Follow instructions for specific leather.
Burnished
Burnished full grain leather is a smooth and water-resistant leather. Burnishing is a finishing technique that creates depth with darker shades of dye/polish. Care: Follow instructions for specific leather.
Crackle
Embossed printing on full-grain leather creates the appearance of pattern or texture. Care: Gently wipe with soft dry cloth.
Tooled Leather
Tooled leather is pattern-embossed. We carry both patent and full-grain tooled leather Dansko clogs. Best For: Fun, casual styles and floral patterns. Care: For full-grain tooled leathers, clean with a soft dry cloth. Patent tooled leathers can be gently wiped with a clean damp cloth to remove surface dirt.
Milled Full Grain Leather
Milled full grain is a leather that has been tumbled and has a smooth and water-resistant leather that does not break down easily. Best For: Environments with wet, acidic or greasy conditions. Care: To clean, wipe with a damp cloth. Maintain with Leather Cream.
Oiled Full Grain Leather
Oiled full grain leather has a heavily oiled finish that creates a durable, water resistant finish. This smooth yet rugged leather does not break down easily. Best For: Environments with wet, acidic or greasy conditions. Care: To clean, wipe with a soft, damp cloth. To maintain, use Dansko Oiled Leather Restorer for darker colors or Dansko Leather Cream for all colors.
